Affiliations
One of ISSA's declared aims is to provide a better understanding
between buyers and ship suppliers through consultation and communication. To
this end, ISSA is affiliated to, or a member of, a number of International
and intergovernmental organisations.

We take an active part in the work of both IMO and UNCTAD.

UNCTAD:
Established in 1964 as a permanent intergovernmental body,
UNCTAD
(United Nations Conference on Trade and Development), is the
principal organ of the United Nations General Assembly dealing with
trade, investment and development issues. It's main goals are to
maximize the trade, investment and development opportunities of
developing countries and assist them in their efforts to integrate
into the world economy on an equitable basis.

IMO:
IMO
(International Maritime Organisation)
is the United Nations' specialized agency responsible for improving
maritime safety and preventing pollution from ships. ISSA is in Consultative
sates with the IMO.

Electronic Commerce
ISSA is actively involved in efforts to increase
the use and efficiency of e-Commerce for the maritime community.

MeCA
MeCA (Maritime
e-Commerce Association) is a non-profit making consortium of companies
committed to promoting and developing e-business and online trading
in the Maritime sector. |

Baltic Exchange: The
Baltic Exchange is the only established and self-regulated global
market place for shipbrokers. Balticexchange.com provides an on-line
exchange for ships and cargoes; real time freight derivative trading
and quality freight market data. |
